WELCOME to E.R.S.G.C.

As a Social Club, we are a group of social golfers from many parts of Sydney who play once a month at various courses in and around Sydney.

An important feature of the Club's policy is that we cater for beginners and above average players alike. Our system of handicapping ensures that all members have an equal chance of winning.

The Club allows a maximum handicap of 45. All new members are required to submit 3 score cards to obtain a club handicap. Any card witnessed by a member is acceptable.

Because of difficulties in obtaining bookings for large social clubs, we are forced to restrict membership to approximately 30 ordinary members.

The Club organises a variety of events every year, such as :

GRADE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The members are divided into 3 grades A, B & C. Stroke play over 54 holes determines the order of qualifying.
Match-play rounds (off handicap) decide the grade winners & runners-up.

CHRISTMAS DAY :
The last match of the year is our presentation day.
The Club presents all trophies won during the year. Every member brings a prize (the value is determined by the committee from year to year).
Each member gets a turn in selecting one of the prizes (in order of finishing in the day's event).

The Club donates trophies for the winner, runner-up, longest drive and nearest-the-pin on all par three holes.  PAR, STROKE & STAB.

COMPETITIONS:
Each competition is played over three rounds and the player with the best total score wins.

PUTTING COMPETITION:
The player with the smallest number of putts in the match set down for this competition is the winner.

EAGLES NEST:
As well as the usual nearest-the-pin, the Club conducts a nest. Starting the nest with 3 balls, a ball will be added each time the nest is not won. To win the nest, a players ball must come to rest within 50cm of the pin.
Other events staged by the Club are: Stroke, Par and Stableford. 4Ball-best-ball, Ambrose etc.

A point score system was introduced into the Club in 1977, mainly because of the difficulties experienced by the members of the committee in buying suitable trophies for the money available, points will be awarded as follows :
SINGLE MATCHES: 1st 28 Points - 2nd 27 Points - 3rd 26 Points - 4th 25 Points - 5th 24 Points .. .. .. 28th 1 Point

The 'HEAD' (a carved coconut from Papua New Guinea and donated by Mr. Fred Clift) is taken home each month by the loser.

We also try to organise a weekend away at some stage during the year.
